Return of Service Tips

Returning serve is a problem for everyone at any level. The best way to return serve when your unsure of the spin is to touch the side of the ball with your racket. The side you need to touch is the side that your opponent is serving from. Lets say that your right handed opponent serves with his/her forehand from their backhand side. Your not sure what type of spin the ball has as they serve to your forehand. You need to return the ball on the left side (their forehand side of the table). It allows more table and it also minimizes the spin because you are hitting the ball perpendicular to where they are standing. Also don’t be afraid to aim off the side of the table some to help with placing the ball really wide on them. That gives you more table.
