Preparing for a Match
Daniel DiVita

At a tournament, everyone wants to know who they will be playing and what style that person uses. So, before you play your match, go find out who you are going to play. Look at the draw first to get the person’s name. If you don’t know who that person is, ask your friends and other competitors if they know who it is. Once you find out, you will then need to learn what style that person uses. If possible, watch the person playing other matches. This should help you see if your opponent has any obvious weaknesses and will also help you determine which tactics you might use. If possible, seek out a practice partner who uses the same kind of rubber and plays with a similar style. This will help you get the best possible results for your match.
