Random Multiball Training

Random multiball training is a great way to improve your endurance, footwork, and consistency. This method of training is very intense because balls are continuously coming at you rapidly on all areas of the table. You have little time to think and must react to each ball quickly. Multiball has improved my endurance because during the training I hit hundreds of balls continuously with little or no rest. My coach Tawny Banh plays with an aggressive, intense style so naturally the multiball training she puts me through is also intense. She has been called “pit bull” and “mother tiger”, so you can just imagine. Multiball has improved my footwork, too. Since balls are being hit to me randomly and traveling fast, slow, short, long, and at both my backhand and forehand sides. This causes me to take quick steps to each ball in order to make a good return. Multiball has also helped me with hitting the ball consistently on the table. As I said before, as you hit hundreds of balls correctly during this drill it is hard not to improve with your accuracy and consistency. So to improve your endurance, footwork, and consistency, my advice is to seek out a coach who uses multiball in their training and try it. You just might thank me later.
