Goals

Goals are very important for improving your game. Before every practice, you should think about what you want to accomplish. When you think about your goals before you go to practice, or during practice, it will help you to focus, and play harder. You should have both short-term goals (things that you think you can accomplish within a few months) and long-term goals (goals that you think you can accomplish over a few years). Some short or long term goals might include winning an event at some tournament. Another goal might be to get your rating over some level. Once you reach a goal, you should set new goals immediately. And, never give up on a goal until you reach it. At first your goals might seem really hard to reach, but over time, and with a lot of hard work, they will come closer and closer.
