Six Quick Tips Jackie Lee 6/22/2005- When in your ready position, make sure you’re not too close or too far from the table. To do so, keep your elbow bent and adjust your position so your racket is about an inch from the edge/side of the table.
- During any point of a match or practice, always stay on the balls of your feet. It’s easier said than done and most people tend to put equal weight on the ball and heels of the feet without realizing it.
- As a general strategy for playing shakehand players, you should try to open to their middle first.
- When pushing against a serve, try to take it off the bounce. This helps tremendously, since it reduces the amount of time your opponent has to prepare and get ready for your ball.
- Try serving 30–50% to the forehand side because most players only serve to the middle or backhand side.
- Always lean forward and hit the ball in front of you, if possible. Although many people think they are hitting like this, they might not actually be. An easy way to remedy this problem is to videotape yourself playing and see what you actually do. Seeing is believing.
