Two Serves, One Motion Joseph Wang 8/16/2006One key component of a good serve is its motion. Many good players have just two serves, a heavy underspin and a heavy topspin (or no spin). But the reason this works is because of the motion they use to serve. The two service motions are almost exactly similar in every way, so you can’t see which serve is which. You too can use this to cloak your serves. The two serves should be similar in every way except for where the ball contacts the racket. A subtle motion of the wrist is all that is needed to change topspin to underspin, or to no spin. So fiddle around with your serve until you can master this technique. [Playing Tips.] |
